Smart choices to reduce energy costs

With the autumn chill in the air beginning to bite and the cost of living continuing to climb, the team at Waterfords Estate Agents look at which appliances are cheaper to run over the coming months.

Although an annual price cap of £2,500 has been announced for two years, this is still a significant increase on last winter.

A gas boiler has the biggest impact on bills and buyers may look to reduce costs by choosing well-insulated homes and those which use renewable energy sources or energy-efficient boilers.


 

How we select and use our appliances will also have an effect, with gas hobs using less energy than electric. Full loads in dishwashers and washing machines will trim costs.

Smart meters are a great way for raising awareness of usage and to spot where the pennies might be disappearing!
