Launch of Auction Department

8-February-2007

Home Counties, 8th February 2007. Waterfords, the estate agents with offices in Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire, are launching an auction arm.

Working with Clarke Gammon Wellers, they will hold their first auction on 19th April at the Holiday Inn, Guildford.

The closing date for entries is 28th February and Brendan Cox, managing director of Waterfords, says: “Most property auction houses are in London, so we see ourselves as a local opportunity for sellers wanting a quick sale.”

·         Auctions offer immediacy and security, as once the hammer comes down, it’s a done deal, providing that the price reaches its reserve

·         Auctions very much suit the seller who wants peace of mind and wishes to avoid the delays and uncertainties of a private treaty

·         Auctions are particularly useful for old houses needing renovation, quirky properties – part residential and part commercial, like shops with flats over them

·         Auctions are useful for selling agricultural land, and appeal to executors getting probate for estates and keen to be seen to be getting the best price

“This is a very exciting step for us after 12 years of dynamic growth,” says Cox, “and we’re looking forward to offering the extra service.”
