Roadshows to help on HIPS know-how
4-May-2007
Waterfords, the estate agents in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire are to launch a series of five roadshows on the Home Information Packs (HIPS).
Waterfords are experts on HIPS having been an early adopter and also for two years part of the Government scheme to road test the new packs.
The roadshows will take place in Crondall, Camberley, Bagshot, Fleet and Yateley up to May 15.
They are designed to help the public understand the issues and to prepare them for June 1 when HIPS becomes mandatory.
In recent reports nearly two out of three of the public said they did not understand what HIPS will mean to them when selling and buying property. Estate agents are confused by terms like EPCs. "These are the new Energy Performance Certificates, which every property will get" says Sean Wickes, Head of Operations at Waterfords, who will be presenting the evenings. "And if your property is not well insulated and you are not energy efficient, that could well bring the price down."
"We are firm believers in HIPS and think that they are just the overhaul that was needed in the buying and selling of property. At least now everyone will have to abide by the same rules."
