Golfathon for Charity
1-June-2007
Waterfords are in the last stages of training for a massive Golfathon.
Nine players, led by MD Brendan Cox, will be taking part in a 24 hour game at Oak Park Golf Club near Farnham from midday on Thursday 7th to midday on Friday 8th June.
The sporting odyssey through the night is designed to raise funds for Waterfords’s charity, Children with Special Needs. Last year Waterfords swam the equivalent of the Channel for the same charity, raising £2,000 from sponsorship.
“Although we’re all avid golfers, we must be mad!” says Gary Brook, who has a handicap of 14. “But we’ve been putting in hours and hours of practice and I hope we’ll be alright.”
The players will use special luminous golf balls and portable generators for light.
