Have home buyers’ requirements changed?

News at Waterfords | 29/05/2020

Almost half of home buyers have said their requirements have changed as a direct result of lockdown and Covid-19. The Homemover survey conducted by Dataloft suggests that Covid-19 is likely to have left a legacy of consumer behaviour change, shifting the relative importance of house buyer requirements.

How have house hunters’ expectations changed?

Just under a third of buyers said that having a garden has become a much more important consideration for them. 8% of house hunters say living closer to family and friends is now much more important than before lockdown. 16% say that having faster broadband speed is more important moving forward. 21% of home movers say that a homeworking space is now more important. With many company cultures and attitudes to remote working shifting in the future this is not surprising. 15% of people looking to move say a less urban area is more important for them when house hunting.

Capture the interest of house hunters from all over the UK with Waterfords

With the shift in home buyer requirements following the Covid-19 lockdown, Waterfords expect to see an increased number of buyers looking to relocate out of London and other urban areas to Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire. This is mainly because the areas which Waterfords cover have so much to offer in terms of these new requirements.

Excellent locations for commuters

The areas surrounding Camberley, Chobham, Fleet and Yateley offer excellent commuter links into London. There are several mainline railway stations with direct links into Waterloo in under 45 minutes. The M3 and M25 can be easily accessed from our branch areas. With the desire for homeworking now much more prevalent, the capital is still within easy reach for days in the office and client meetings.

More space for your money

Moving just 30-40 miles outside of London means home buyers can get more space for their money. With 21% of house hunters saying that a homeworking space is much more important, Waterfords’ local area offers an ideal solution.

Beautiful countryside

With 15% of home buyers stating that a less urban area is now more important, the local area has a lot to offer. Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey are beautiful and diverse counties with numerous beauty spots and open green spaces.
