Leading Lenders

News at Waterfords | 20/09/2018

Waterfords are proud to provide outstanding customer service so we are always looking into which third parties to work with during the sales process. A recent survey by Which? Looks at the top mortgage providers for customer care. According to a new survey from consumer research group Which?, Principality tops the league of UK mortgage lenders for customer satisfaction, with First Direct and Nationwide coming in joint second place.

Which mortgage provider tops the customer satisfaction league?

Which? surveyed 3,500 home-owners asking them to rate their mortgage provider on four categories; customer service, the mortgage application process, value for money and online access. Fourteen companies received scores of 70% or above. The top nine are listed here, while Nat West, HSBC, TSB, Santander and the Leeds Building Society all scored 70%.

Across England and Wales just under two-thirds of properties are owner occupied, of which just over half are owned with a mortgage. The Financial Services Authority estimate the outstanding value of all residential mortgage loans is just over £1,417 billion.

Which? Point out that the best mortgage lender for any home-owner will depend on individual circumstances. Anyone seeking to take out a new mortgage or re-mortgage their existing property is recommended to seek advice. Waterfords Estate Agents can arrange a free, no obligation financial advice appointment to find the right mortgage for you.

Why should you get mortgage advice from a broker rather than go directly to a lender?

    • They’ll check your finances to make sure you can afford a mortgage
    • They might have exclusive deals with lenders, not otherwise available
    • They often complete the paperwork for you, so your application should be dealt with faster
    • They’ll help you take all the features of the mortgage into account, beyond just the interest rate
    • They should only recommend a mortgage that is suitable for you and tell you which ones you’re most likely to get approved for

If you don’t take mortgage advice from a broker and apply direct, you could end up:

    • With the wrong mortgage for your situation, which could mean you struggle to make the payments over the term of the mortgage.
    • Being rejected by your chosen lender, because you didn’t understand the restrictions clearly or what circumstances the mortgage was designed for.
