Property in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire in high demand

News at Waterfords | 25/06/2020

As coronavirus lockdown restrictions continue to ease across the UK, many of us are reassessing our priorities in life and where we would like to spend our future. Lockdown meant that all of us have had to spend much more time at home and this has changed the behaviour of house hunters.

A shift in house hunters’ priorities

The latest property market research shows that home buyer requirements have changed, with moving to the countryside at the top of the list of priorities.  The latest data shows that 51%* of people living in London who are looking for a property, are now looking outside of the city in the hunt for fresh air, green space and a larger property for their budget.

Recent research by Property Market Analysts at Dataloft shows that 30%* of buyers say a garden is more important in their search for a property than it was before lockdown. 15% now want to live in a less urban area.

Lockdown restrictions imposed by the Government in March 2020 meant many of us had to adapt to working from home. Many workers have proven they can be just as productive at home as they can in the office, with 76%* saying they want to continue working from home as lockdown continues to ease.

The increase in home working means that property in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire is in high demand, with people realising they can enjoy life in a more peaceful and rural area with a commute of under an hour into Waterloo and Paddington.

How do Waterfords attract so many London buyers?

Most of our dedicated team continued to work throughout lockdown restrictions, registering buyers and tenants from the safety of their homes while many other local estate agents were closed. This means that we have an extensive database of house hunters looking for their next home.

We are proud to be members of Relocation Agent Network. Through our exclusive local membership your property has the potential to reach additional buyers through more than 50 offices covering greater London and over 600 offices through England, Scotland and Wales.
