Property sales continued in April, despite lockdown

News at Waterfords | 24/05/2020

The latest figures from HMRC for the property market in April 2020 are have landed and the news is pleasingly positive.

Despite full lockdown across the housing market in April, more than 46,000 residential properties completed during the month on a seasonally adjusted basis. While this is around half the level recorded in April 2019, it is still far higher than expected, suggesting more deals went through to completion than were anticipated.

With lockdown restrictions eased on 13th May, Waterfords expect transaction levels to build over the summer months as deals already in the conveyancing process combine with newly agreed sales. Early results from the Dataloft Homemover Survey show a strong appetite from prospective buyers to move as soon as they find the right home or sell their current home.

We never stopped working for you during lockdown

Our teams worked from home throughout lockdown and saw a continued demand for property in the area. This means potential buyers were still able to register with us, while many other estate agents were closed altogether or worked on skeleton staff levels and unable to meet unexpected demand. Waterfords were able to build a strong database of house hunters who are serious about buying property in the local area.

Virtual and in-person valuations and viewings available

If you would like a free, no obligation valuation of your property, please get in touch with your local property expert. Our experienced team have often agreed sales on property before they even hit advertising due to their strong database of house hunters.

Waterfords are providing virtual or in-person property valuations, depending on your preference. We can also provide in virtual or in-person viewings on all properties whether for sale or to let.
