Chobham Carnival celebrated its 30th Birthday this year with a movie blockbusters themed procession. Waterfords were delighted to sponsor the main arena at the festivities, something they have done for many years.

Despite the rain, in true British spirit hundreds of fun-seekers made it out for the 30th carnival, with a parade through the village on bank holiday Monday (1st May). The movie blockbusters theme encouraged people of all ages to dress up in their favourite movie-related costume. As you would expect, it was apparent that Frozen characters and minions were among the most popular!

Hundreds of ‘movie stars’ left Chobham Rugby Club, ending up at the Waterfords Arena. The carnival was then opened by Chobham St Lawrence Morris Dancers. Chobham Carnival was set up in 1987 and has raised an astounding £500,000 for local community groups since it was founded.

Chobham Branch Manager, Sarah Farrington, comments:

“We always love to support Chobham Carnival in raising vital funds for these wonderful local causes. This year we sponsored the Main Arena where all the entertainment takes place. We got to see a super talented mountain bike stunt team, Punch and Judy and balloon modelling to name just a few things!

We were more than happy to support the carnival with its advertising by using our for sale boards to shout about the date of the carnival, helping to ensure a good turnout. We are looking forward to next year already!”
